Hi all! This is my first post and I'm hoping to learn a lot on this website.
I also have a mid-engined project I'm working on, no purpose behind this other than be the first and have a damned good time building something unique. If this takes me 20 years and I still fail at least the journey will be fun.
So I would like to mate a 1UZ, longitudinally with a transaxle behind. I saw in the other thread an admin suggested the Audi 5000 5spd transaxle. I was looking into some other alternatives such as porsche transaxles but that seemed like an expensive headache.
I would love to use a W or R series transmission since the adapters are already proven and available but that combination is a little to long for my application.
This Audi transaxle sounds like a good alternative. So how would I go about mating these two foreign objects.
I can weld but I don't know the first thing about mating transmissions/engines that may or may not have the same spline count, diameter, flywheel etc etc...
Where do I start?
I found a company that does LSx -> Audi 5000 conversions but I would really like to use the 1UZ. I will try contacting them during the week but other than that I'm lost.
