Cooling capacity for 1uzfe
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:09:39 AM »
I'm trying to size a radiator for a 1uzfe

I can do the calculation but need the following info:

1.  Rated heat output [kW] of the engine at max power
2.  Rated coolant flow at max power

This information should be available from the manufacturer but I can't seem to find it.  Can anyone help?

You know, I've never actually seen that information posted about the 1UZ... I'd suggest you check lextreme.com/forums. They have a plethora of information specific to the 1UZ.

EDIT: Nevermind... just saw your post when I went to do a search. I think most people here stick with their stock radiators. I haven't seen anyone with a special one yet.

The stock radiator is not available in South Africa.  Most conversions are done here, using the BMW 740 radiator.  No one can give me a reason but "it is usually sufficient"

I HAVE to put something else in but would like to approach it with the correct engineering.

DO you have the dims of the BMW 740 Rad?  I plan to use something different than stock.  Are the inlet/outlet in the right place for the 1UZ?

I dont have the dims of the radiator - still trying to get that myself.  As soon as I have it I will post for you.

BUT

Please remember that the design of the radiator core and cooling fins will affect the ability to transfer heat.  In other words two radiators with exactly the same dimensions will not necessarily be able to remove the same amount of heat!

Use the standard V8 Rover radiator.

I use a standard radiator with twin AU Falcon thermofans.

Never overheats and the hoses are easy to sort out.
