And this is the 97 limited 4runner that i will be swapping some parts with. Sad that it was wrecked. I let my girlfriend drive it about a month ago, she stopped at a 3 way stop then turned left and a low life in a ford super duty ran the stop sign going about 50 and smashed into the fender spinning my 4runner into a s10 pickup and totaled both of us and then he kept on going and no one could chase him down. And all i have is liability so i have been looking for the ford every day so i can collect. anyways here's some before and after pics of my 97 4runner. luckily the frame wasn't bent and the majority of the damage is easily fixable and it should be drivable tomorrow after replacing the passenger control arms, knuckle, and radiator.

Hi I'm new to this forum and i have been wanting to do one of these builds for a while now. I now have the main pieces that i know i need, a 98 4runner and a 96 ls400 donor vehicle. I bought the 4runner for $1500 non-running from a guy who submerged the front end under water with 160k miles and luckily all of the electronics still work. The ls400 i just bought a week ago running and driving with 140k miles aside from a transmission problem for $1000. I also have a 97 limited 4runner with a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it that i will swap parts with the 98 4runner once the build is complete. I have all of the resources and tools i need to do this swap i just want to make sure i do it right and get it done fast. The main reason I'm posting it up on this website is to be helped and help others.

Hi guys,

What thickness sheet steel are you all using?

After some reading I decided to go with 5mm thick sheet, with the mount being  a "three sided box". I thought this would be plenty strong enough but a good friend of mine says that every truck he ahs seen with 5mm thick mounts has failed... I'll get some pics later)

Surely 5mm is enough isn't it? the chassis side of the mount is only about 2mm thick!

Thanks.

I used both 3/16" and 1/4" on my mounts (4.7-6.3 mm)  never had a problem.
