For Sale / 4runner 1uz engine custom mounts.
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:48:16 AM »
As described these 10mm steel plate fabricated engine mounts will bolt to your engine block, then will bolt directly to your original 4cyclinder engine dampners, so the 1uz is a bolt in application with no chassie mods needed. Save time and money and all the hard work, and just simply bolt the 1uz-fe quad cam v8 in. Also aligns gearbox (toyota 5speed with transfer) to original mounting points, no gearbox crossmember adaption plate required!

Will suit toyota 4runner 84 to 88 with 4 cyc engine (may also fit toyota surf 90's models) and will also suit toyota hilux chassie with 4cycl.
FOR SALE, $100.

My mate has a spare 4.3, i was thinking of using that and then i only have to buy 1 more crown. I think to be getting the numbers i am now i must have 4.88 or something close to that.
 I also wanted to go bigger tires... like 33"x 12.5" x 15.
Cebby, do you think 4.3's with 33's will cut it?

I was hoping somebody who has done the 1uz conversion into thier 4x4 could give me an idea on what diff ratio's i should run. At the moment im getting 3000rpm @ 100km/h. I would like something around 2300rpm or less @ 100km/h . Im running the G52 5 speed and 32" tires.

Oilpan, Pickup Tube and Oil Filter / Reading the dip stick
« on: October 10, 2007, 05:41:52 PM »
This may seem a very silly question, however after 20 dozen attemps to get a clear reading i cant.
I remove the dip stick, i wipe it clean, i put it back in carefully, then i remove carefully (not shake around) and it comes out with oil to the start of the cable above the reading area. I put it in and not fully home and it still gives me oil all over the stick. I cant even get a bottom reading doing this.
I have a reomte oil cooler running in front of my radiator, could this affect it?
Have i just over filled the level? does anybody else have troubles reading thier dip stick?

In my experince i advise all people thinking of this mod....
After all my troubles, money and time spent with mechanics, auto electricians and mates or forums, i can only highly reccomend 2 people.

SIDESHOW (sss automotive) in NSW Sydney.

or

SCOTT HAMPSON (venom custom fabrications) in QLD Brisbane.

Scott wired my factory ECU / Loom and Sideshow diagnosed and fixed any problems i had with set up / tuning issues.

THESE MEN KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING with 1UZ's

Many thanks guys. Im a happy camper now

For Sale / Re: AFMeter and parts.
« on: June 15, 2007, 09:03:32 PM »
got another AFM and coil from advise from my auto elecy that my old ones were the problems for my car running rich on idle. after i just bought them he now tells me thats not the problem!!!! (prick) im getting reemed here i think. So now i have for sale a right hand coil (up top) and an AFM and a fuel pressure regulator.

In my advise, and im sure others will agree... you can not go past Scott @ Venom performance in QLD. You take off your loom from your engine and put it in a box. Send to Scott. $900 and a few weeks or maybe a month later your loom comes back with all the hard work done. He has pin outs. He has a test bench engine that he will plug in your loom and make sure 100% it works. He will tag about 6 wires from the ecu to join up to power basicly and there you have it.... job done. Considering i have just spent $1300 at my reccomended auto electrian, and its still not right! and he has had my truck for bloody 3 months!!!!. So let Scott take care of that side of things and spend the time mounting your engine as it will have to come in and out 20 or more times so then the last time it goes in it will be with the loom reconnected to the motor and then wire it up to power etc and off you drive.  Learn from my mistake as that was my original plan but didnt do it. Now im suffering and wish i had of just sent it to him. I may even be considering taking my engine out to take off the loom to send to it to Scott just to check it and make sure its all right. He does loms for people all over the world and some from the US on this forum. Scott's the man my friend!

'95.5-'04 Tacomas/'96-'02 4Runners (3rd Gen) / Re: 1UZ-FE for my Taco
« on: June 13, 2007, 05:34:29 PM »
Where do measure from? I have herd that you should maintain about a 45' angle? when the shackle is in normal load position. Also im thinking it will roll my diff angle up so really it should then attain a better drive shaft angle?? Also then that means the front diff would roll down as the shackles are on the rear as we all know with hilux/4runner. So i guess i would have to put a wedge under it to correct it?? Im thinking just 2" extended shackles as i think that is what the legal limit is in NSW Australia. But is 3" going to make a lot more difference? As i may be able to get the engineer to pass the 3" shackles. What would you recommend Smitty? The springs are on the bump stops so can i cut these down half?? will give me an extra inch or two more travell upwards.

Thanks Smitty, Ifinally  realised i had some wrong wire colours rejoined to extend thier lenght when i had cut my loom for the Haltech and then had to repair it all back to factory to hook up the original ECU.
The wires are getting sorted now (unravell loom) and when my auto elect has a free day he will correct the wrongly joined wires. If all go's well  then that should be it. fingers crossed. :D
